GeM (Government e-Marketplace) is an online platform launched by the Government of India in 2016 to facilitate the procurement of goods and services by various government departments, organizations, and public sector undertakings (PSUs). It is managed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The primary goal of GeM is to ensure transparency, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in public procurement. It serves as a one-stop portal where sellers (including MSMEs, startups, and large enterprises) can offer products and services to government buyers.
